it is january—a month when we easily succumb to the need for immediate actions that promise quick results. the new year makes us race against time. for some, it is paralyzing. for others, it pushes. but for many, it is at odds with who we are at our core. why are we doing this to ourselves? why not move at the pace of nature? imagine this happening year after year. in this generation, social media worsens the urgency. we constantly compare and are compared in the hustle, instantly reminded of how we have fallen off the wagon. off the track. off the chart. off the path. we get up and try again, but the cycle is vicious and exhausting. no wonder we’re already tired.
this january also brings a day of change. a shift we know will rock us to our core - the outdated system emphasizing money over humanity and the quick changes disregard generations of progress. the laws and rights, brought forth and shaped by us over time, are provoked by the minimization of people and driven by power that seeks to control us. why are we denied change toward humanity? how is wealth taking over when the most important things do not cost a thing? think of effort. movement. consideration. respect. communication. and of course, love, the basic birthright of every human.
the idea of having a handle on ourselves, on our lives, suggest slowness. the quick-fix mentality becomes particularly tempting in january. the chase of instant gratification. the question of what comes next. resist the urge, the urge that society sells so relentlessly. we buy into urgency without realizing how much harm it causes, amazon is a prime example. dang, no pun intended, but the association of prime and time suggests the very concept has been monetized and how we subscribe to that. we bought into it for years and now look at where it got us, where it got bezos too.
what if we resisted the idea? what if we got a handle on the urgency? what if alignment grants better intentions? what now, you ask? the starting place is ourselves. find people who challenge the pressure to hurry. support businesses that celebrate slowness, inviting you into a different rhythm. let go of the urgency—it slows the turn of the earth. let in the resistance and the alignment that move us, and fulfillment that stretches across time.
i get the urgency too, but when people come to me for custom pieces, it creates an alignment that inspires me to work toward resistance. this is at the heart of what boldher shop stands for. with boldher shop, we will slow the pull of urgency. with me, we will discover what moves us. when you choose a piece from boldher shop, we will carry the spirit of resistance. much love to y’all~
